Job Description: 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position within the Corporate Services Division, National Land Agency.


The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager

Job Purpose

To facilitate the timely and pro-active maintenance of properties and equipment owned by the Commissioner of Land and the National Land Agency in a cost effective and efficient manner

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the annual Facility Audit  and budget for repairs and maintenance to government houses
  • Prepares and monitors Preventative Maintenance Scheduled for all residential properties
  • Identifies and reports to the Operation Manager any need for major repairs and maintenance work
  • Prepares Bills of Quantities/ Engineer’s Estimates for repairs/ construction works to be done to Government houses and the Agency’s facilities as required
  • Initiates and supervises projects (start, supervision, contract award, monitoring of budgets, preparation of payment vouchers and project handing over)
  • Selects service providers to effect repairs to building and equipment up to specified limits, monitors work done by them and certifies bills for payment
  • Assist with the disaster preparedness and emergency management programme for government owned properties and ensures adequate disaster supplies are in stock
  • Assists with the Scope of Work for construction works projects and Tenders
  • Prepares Variation Orders for construction projects
  • Ensures that inventory of furniture and equipment for government houses is current
  • Conducts on-site visits and monitors all construction work executed by Contractors to ensure compliance with Contract Drawings, Bills of Quantities and Specifications
  • Liaises with Contractors, Architects etc. during repair/renovation process and maintains visits to observe standard of work, target dates and expenditure in relation to work completed

  • Basic knowledge of Government of Jamaica procurement policies, procedures and guidelines particularly in the area of Works Tenders
  • Sound knowledge of facility management, building construction, plumbing, maintenance of mechanical, air conditioning and electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret building and architectural drawings
  • Basic competence in preparing simple Bills of Quantities
  • Competence in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Facility Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or other facility or constructed related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management/ Management Studies
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar position at the supervisory level
  • Working knowledge of Autocad software would be an asset

Certification or training in Project Management or Facility Management would be an asset

Remuneration Package

              Salary Range: $2,152,688- $2,305,218 p.a.

        Motor Vehicle Travelling Allowance: $813,564 p.a.
